As our planet continues to get warmer, not only are people going to be effected by global warming but animals as well are going to suffer from this disaster. Wildlife all over the world are going to become endangered or extinct if this trend continues to get worse. Unlike humans, animals are exposed to the elements a lot more and some of the research has all ready started to show negative signs.
Of course the Arctic will be devastated because the huge platues of ice in the poles are home to some of the most uniques animals in the world. The north pole is home to one of the world's largest land carnivores- the Polar bear. Polar bears are in a very unique predicament because of there dependency of the ice caps and as there habitat continues to melt away, the harder it is for them to survive. Also since the These animals can swim as far as sixty miles in search of food and now there is evidence that these bears can't make the swims between land and ice, they are drowning as a result.
In warmer regions of the world, animals are being effected just as well such as the Alligator in Florida. The largest inland lake in the United States is Lake Okeechobee in southern Florida and this lake has a large concentration of these reptiles. Unfortunately all the droughts that this region has endured during the last several years are being blamed on global warming. These droughts have led to the lake shrinking in size and a big problem with the population of the Alligators. It has become more frequent to see these creatures leaving the lake in search of another place to live, which ultimately puts them in harms way because they encounter people.
As you can see, global warming is now effecting not just people but animals as well. And it doesn't seem to matter if they are in warm or cold regions. More has to be done to help protect the

You make excellent points here. Unfortunately, I don't think most people are listening. I am thrilled with the change in position that Austrailia has made with their new prime minister. Now what can we as Americans do to combat these problems in our own backyards? Do you have any action plans?
Are there not other animals being affected by these changes? Like, the whales and sea turtles. Those creatures are always being found beached on beach shores. And the alligator problem has always been a problem, since forever. The drought makes it worse for them. But unfortunately, people want them as pets and then do not want them anymore. However, now the droughts are making them venture out. Now only a fraction of Florida's alligators live near that lake. You have to think about all the other waterways. Talk more about the ohter animals being affected and not just the alligator and polar bears. What about the Eagles and crocodiles? What about the racoons and the tropical reef fish?Keep up the great work. -S
Who would of thought is was that big of a deal right now. Unfortunately media is not highly focused on that issue of global warming. I have seen how the weather has progressively gotten warmer and warmer as the years go by. I lived here five years ago and remember the huge amounts of snow we were getting at this time of year and now we just got our first snow day yesterday. Moving back up to the north this year I thought for sure we would have already had numerous snow days going into December. Global warming is affecting people but seems to be affecting animals in a more harmful way as far as their habitat. What are scientist’s suggesting? Are there any motions being put forth to help these animals, or is there pretty much nothing we can do? This was very informative and has made me want to follow this topic more closely, you grabbed my attention well, good job!
I think you bring up great points that we don't often consider. The media had focused on a long time about global warming, maybe not enough, but the effects on animals was never brought up.
